Which episode of DS9 mentioned that this class was developed prior to the start of TNG? Which episode mentions the "was not put into heavy use" before Dominion War bit? Which episode mentions the replacement of "older pulse phasers with newer micro pulse phaser cannons"? AlistairMcMillan 03:03, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

The Peregrine is described in a DS9 episode (the one where Kira and Odo are chassing a Maquis ship) as being an older curier (sp) ship. In early Maquis episodes it was stated they are using dated Federation designs.
The complete lack of seeing the Peregrine class prior to the Dominion war is a kinda obvious little piece of information showing it was not used very often by the Federation.
In the DS9 episode Maquis PT2 we see a battle between two Peregrine fighters and three runabouts. The Peregrine's fire a enlongated skinny pulse type weapon rapid fire. In DS9 in Sacrafice Angles we see the Peregrines firing from the same points on the wings and now they are firing pulses of the same general shape and look as the Defiants Pulse Phaser Cannons. So it's all speculation then. There is no source that states the ships pre-date the TNG series. There is no souce stating that it is little used before the Dominion war. There is no source stating the weapons have been upgraded or downgraded or whatever, we just see them using different weapons. Modern fighters (F-14, F-15, etc) can be equipped with different weapon loads depending on their mission tasks, what is stopping the Federation or Starfleet or the Maquis, equipping their ships with different weapon loads.

All speculation. All coming out. AlistairMcMillan 04:45, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
