Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv Oblast

Pervomaisk (Ukrainian: Первомайськ) (48°03′00″N, 30°51′00″E) is a city in Mykolaiv Oblast, Ukraine. Population is 70,170 (2001).

Prior to 1919 it had several names: Holta (Golta), Bohopol (Bogopol) and Olviopol (Olviopil). Boholopol means the city of God, from Slavic Boh (Bog), God. Though it can also be explained from the river Southern Buh (Polish "Boh"") that flows through the city.
