Type: | House of Commons |
Perth Burghs was a district of burghs constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1708 to 1801 and of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 until 1832. The constituency comprised the burghs of Cupar, Dundee, Forfar, Perth and St Andrews. In the reforms of 1832, Dundee and Perth were established as separate burgh constituencies, with the remaining burghs being transferred to the then new St Andrews district of burghs.
In 1918 the constituency was enlarged to include the area of Perthshire Eastern and areas from Perthshire Western and Clackmannan and Kinross. The name was changed to Perth and East Perthshire in 1950, and again to Perth and Kinross in 1983, before reverting to Perth in 1997. Since 2005, the area has been covered by the Ochil and South Perthshire and Perth and North Perthshire constituencies.
