[edit] Persian red in human culture

  • Before the fall of the Iranian monarchy in 1979, in Iran there was an organization called the Red Lion and Sun (see the Red Lion with Sun subsection within the Wikipedia Red Cross article) which was the Iranian equivalent of the Red Cross. In Iran, the lion and sun image was rendered in Persian red on a white background.[citation needed]
