Perrystown
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Perrystown, sometimes known as "The Secret Suburb" by its residents, is a small-ish south Dublin suburb located roughly between Terenure, Templeogue and Walkinstown. Approximately 50% of taxi drivers know of its existence (with only 80% of those knowing its location). Often mistakenly referred to as a housing estate or just an area of Crumlin, it is, in fact, a suburb in its own right, evidenced by the location of a post office there. (The main criterion for being considered a village or suburb is the existence of a post office.)
[edit] General Information
The residents of Perrystown display a strong community spirit, examples of which can be found in the local community centre, which plays host to the PME Variety Group, Robert Emmet's GAA Club, and Manortown Utd. Football Club. The Laurels and the Pines are the local watering holes, which are, in fact, owned by brothers. Residents can dine at the newly opened Negi's Bistro, or can practically walk into Terenure, the site of several terrific eateries.
The village's best-known sons are Niall Quinn, the former Ireland international Bon Vivant ,Coz Noleon, drummer with Republic of Loose and Simon Rogers, F.A.I. referee.
