Perico

Perico — a Spanish word for small birds of the parrot family — can refer to:

  • Perico (dish): A Venezuelan and Colombian dish prepared with butter, sautéed diced onions, tomatoes, and eggs. It can be considered as a tropical version of the British scrambled eggs, and also includes ground pepper, annatto and occasionally ají. It is usually offered as an arepa filling with ground yellow cheese.
  • A nickname of Pedro Delgado, a Spanish cyclist
  • Common slang for cocaine, in the United States, Colombia and Venezuela, because its stimulating effect makes people talk like a "perico" (parrot)
  • Perico, Cuba: A city in Matanzas province.
  • Perico, Jujuy: A city in the Jujuy province of Argentina.
  • Perico, Texas: A ghost town in the United States.
