Perfect Stranger is an American country music band from the state of Texas.

The group was founded in 1986 in Carthage, Texas, comprising Shayne Morrison (bass guitar), Richard Raynes (guitar), Steve Murray (vocals) and Andy Ginn (drums). The four artists played together throughout the state of Texas, mostly in honky-tonks and at rodeos. In December 1994, they released an independent album, which featured a single penned by Vince Gill and veteran songwriter Kostas. The song, "Ridin' the Rodeo", was the biggest independent country music hit in the United States at the time.[1]

Perfect Stranger started out on the independent Pacific label, and was later picked up by Curb Records. In fact, they are the only country act so far to have switched from an independent label to a major label and have the major label pick up promotion on an existing single.[2]

Shayne Morrison is now one half of the duo Morrison-Williams; however, he still performs as part of Perfect Stranger as well.[3]
