Percy Alliss

Percy Alliss (1897 – March 31, 1975) was an English golfer. He was born in Sheffield. His first notable professional win came at the 1920 Welsh Professional Championship. He finished in the top six at The Open Championship in 1928, 1929, 1931, 1932 and 1936.[1] He spent some time working as a club professional in Germany and won the German Open five times. He was later the club professional at Ferndown Golf Club in Dorset for twenty eight years before retiring at the age of seventy.
Percy Alliss played in the Ryder Cup in 1929, 1931, 1933, 1935 and 1937. His son Peter a golfer, golf writer and broadcaster, also played in the Ryder Cup. The Allisses were the first father and son pair to play in the Ryder Cup, and so far Antonio and Ignacio Garrido are the only other.
He died in Bournemouth at the age of 78.
