This category is for high-profile victims of the Mafia in Sicily, such as politicians, judges, police chiefs, etc, as opposed to the less publicized victims claimed by day-to-day Mafia business. The phrase is a translation from the Italian "Cadaveri eccellenti". In a more general sense, cadaveri eccellenti also means an unsolved murder which remains highly mysterious.
