From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi Pengryphon, welcome to Wikipedia. I've noticed that you intend to make Oz kingdoms a special project. Good! I'm rather into Oz myself. Here are a few tips:

If you type {{Oz}} at the bottom of each new Oz-related page you create, the following box will appear:

The world of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Oz portal
The land | The characters | The books
The authors (Baum | Thompson | McGraw | Volkov) | The illustrators (Denslow | Neill)

The film adaptations

(1908: The Fairylogue and Radio-Plays | 1910: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz | Dorothy and the Scarecrow in Oz | The Land of Oz | 1914: The Patchwork Girl of Oz | The Magic Cloak of Oz | His Majesty, the Scarecrow of Oz | 1925: Wizard of Oz | 1933: The Wizard of Oz | 1939: The Wizard of Oz | 1961: Tales of the Wizard of Oz | 1964: Return to Oz | 1965: The Wizard of Mars | 1969: The Wonderful Land of Oz | 1971: Ayşecik ve Sihirli Cüceler Rüyalar Ülkesinde | 1972: Journey Back to Oz | 1975: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz | 1976: The Wizard of Oz | 1976: Oz | 1981: The Marvelous Land of Oz | 1982: The Wizard of Oz | 1984: Os Trapalhões e o Mágico de Oróz | 1985: Return to Oz | 1986: Oz no Mahōtsukai | 1990: Supēsu Ozu no Bōken | 1996: The Wonderful Galaxy of Oz | 2005: The Muppets' Wizard of Oz | The Patchwork Girl of Oz)

The Wiz
(The musical | The film)
Wicked
(The books | The musical)

Which provides handy links to other Oz topics, and makes it easier to group topics together. If you create a new article for a character, please update List of characters in the Oz books. And if you create a new article for a character location, try to add interlinks to the new article is some related articles, such as Land of Oz or the relevant book's page - and vice versa.

You might like to take a look at How to edit a page and Manual of Style, when you get the time. Try to keep in mind that people may land on an article randomly, so the opening line of the article should always define the context quite clearly. Take a look at the changes I've made to Cowardly Lion and the ones I'm about to make to Sir Hokus of Pokes, to get and idea of what I mean. --Woggly 11:52, 8 May 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Article topics

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a how to or tutorial site. Pages like How to make chain mail are likely going to get deleted (or possibly moved to the nebulous How to area). Perhaps you would prefer to writing articles in an encyclopedic style, if just to avoid the conflicts. Rmhermen 21:45, May 11, 2004 (UTC)

Also please don't put your name in articles. Authorship can be tracked through the article history. Rmhermen 22:19, May 11, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Leather scales image

Hi, I'm not sure what your plans for Image:Leather scales plans.bmp were, but I've uploaded a new image that is much smaller in size and has clearer text (Image:Leather scales plans.png). Bitmap (BMP format) images tend to be unsuitable for online use, due to their size and lack of any kind of compression; I'd recommend reducing them to PNG or JPG format before uploading. Check out Wikipedia:How to keep image file sizes as small as possible for tips on how to do this, and when it's most appropriate. Also, if you create an image yourself, you may want to note that on the image description page, just so there is no question about possible copyright problems. Cheers! -- Wapcaplet 19:14, 16 May 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Period Mail

Hello there, I noticed that Making Period Mail is listed on votes for deletion (as it isn't really suitable for the Wikipedia). Have you considered contributing your work to Cunnan?

Take a look at http://www.sca.org.au/cunnan/ I'm sure your how-to style articles would be very welcome there. - Tobin Richard 05:17, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Armor making articles

Hey there, since a couple of your armor making articles have been nominated for deletion, since they are not encyclopedia article, I cut-and-pasted Making Period Mail, Making Period Leather Armor and Making Basic Armor to Wikibooks, under the same titles: Wikibooks:Making Period Mail, Wikibooks:Making Period Leather Armor and Wikibooks:Making Basic Armor, provided credit to you on the talk page, and also copied the corresponding images. If you want to work on them anymore, follow those wikibooks links, and the articles will be there as you left them here on Wikipedia (with a few improvements, possibly) siroχo 09:46, Oct 16, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Unverified images

Thanks for uploading these images. I notice they currently don't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know their copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release them under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks, Kbh3rd 04:26, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] A business proposal

[edit] Image:6in1 mail.jpg

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Jigformail.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Jigformail.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:44, 20 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Iamunknown 07:44, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
