[edit] 'Abandoned' stairwell?

The supposedly abandoned stairwell in the Pentagon City station has seem to come to life recently, although I never paid enough attention before to notice whether it used to look like this too. There are lights on in front of it as well as a sign which says 'canopy construction underway'. This is the same sign which was placed at the other two entrances when the canopies were being constructed there, but those are both complete. The sign says the completion date is something like July 31, 2006, but I don't remember the lights on before, so perhaps they'll re-open that stairwell? Rmeskill 17:48, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

I saw this, too, and took a few photos of it. I just saw it literally minutes ago (I'm posting from the Apple store at Pentagon City Mall), and the lights are on, and there's some equipment down in the bottom there, as well as lots and lots of debris. I read somewhere that it is supposed to reopen. I've got the link bookmarked somewhere at home, so you'll have to wait for a source on it. It was somewhere on CommuterPage, though, if I'm not mistaken. So yeah, it's supposed to reopen to the best of my knowledge. And that sign about canopy construction is still there as of today, and really needs to be removed. Someone should put a bug in Tangherlini's ear about that one...
