Penton Mewsey is a village located 3 miles NW of Andover, Hampshire, UK Latitude = 51.2167 and Longitude = -1.5167
The village is home to approximately 400 people and has about 110 houses. The name Penton derives from the word Penitone, which is a word for a farm held at penny rent. Until the 1920's the Pentons were mainly agricultural communities supporting sheep and corn etc, typical of northern Hampshire at the time. The Pentons are still surrounded by farmland which is currently completely arable. But now three stables provide the main village based commercial activities. The Holy Trinity church is a 14th century decorated with much style. It was refurbished extensively in the 19th century.
