Pentimal system
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pentimal system (Swedish pentadiska siffor) is a number format similar to the decimal system, used in Scandinavia in medieval times, especially in (English) runstavar or Runic calendars (also known as clogs) and Norwegian kalenderstavar. This is a calendar system, presumably derived from the Roman calendar.
The oldest known use of the numbers in a printed source is a calendar, the Computus Runicus by Ole Worm from 1643. [1]
