Penny Proud

Penny Proud is one of the main characters of The Proud Family, a Disney Channel animated series, although not an officially a Disney cartoon. Penny is a 16 year-old (After the Proud Family Movie) African-American girl dealing with the troubles of everyday life. She loves her family, but often feels embarrassed by the way they act. She is the daughter of Oscar Proud and Trudy Proud. Penny also has two younger siblings, twins BeBe and CeCe, and an eccentric grandmother known as Suga Mama, who is Oscar's mother.
Usually, Penny is embarrassed by her parents, especially her dad (Oscar Proud). She resembles some of modern day's teenagers: adoring music, dealing with problems with friends and adults, and choosing which boy to take to her prom. She usually saves her family in improbable scenarios (i.e. The Proud Family Movie), and rebels against authorities at her school or her parents at home in a mature fashion. She sometimes deals with serious issues such as Civil Rights, sexism, and teen bullying.
Penny has mainly four friends: Zoey, Dijonay, Sticky and LaCienega. Dijonay has known LaCienega since they were toddlers and has a major brush on Sticky, which Sticky does not reciprocate. LaCienega at first despised Penny, but over time the two managed to accept their differences.
It is common that Penny wears a white undershirt, a red sweater, a red skirt, and red shoes. She has black hair in pig tails. A joke is made in one episode that her mother keeps buying her this outfit for her as she thinks it is cute. And in the movie, Penny is shown drawing a mole under her left eye with a pencil (although this could have been done for humor purposes).
In a crossover episode of Lilo & Stitch, the Prouds took a vacation to Hawaii, where they met Lilo and Stitch themselves. They were grouchy to each other by the cause of an experiment, but end up being nice to each other.
Penny is also good with animals just like her mother. She was friends with Ajay the indian tiger and Chester the aggressive duck (voiced by Frank Welker). Her friends always stand with her (unless there is a 3rd Storee concert) when they feel Penny is standing for something right, but often have a knack for getting her into trouble on other occasions. She has problems with the school bullies Gross Sisters, but finds a way to get around them.
Penny's favorite colors have been noted to be blue, orange, green, pink, purple, white, and yellow.
