[edit] History

PA 252 was originally established in 1928 to run from Media to Newtown Square. In 1970, the route was changed to its current course.

[edit] Route Description

[edit] Delaware County

Less than 5 blocks outside of Chester, PA 252 spurs off PA 320, signed as Providence Rd. Soon, the route becomes the eastern border of Media, the county seat of Delaware County. After interchanging with the Media Bypass (US Route 1), Providence Road hits Rose Tree Park, where it splits from 252, now signed as Newtown Street Road. Compared to dead-straight Providence Road, Newtown Street Road is windy, crossing Crum Creek and bisecting the Delaware County Community College's campus. Through Newtown Township, Pennsylvania, 252 crosses West Chester Pike (PA 3) and immediatly turns left. Right before the Chester-Delaware County Line, 252 splits from Newtown Street Road, signed as Darby Paoli Road.

[edit] Chester County

Darby Paoli Road becomes a four-laned highway with only four traffic lights. Its fourth, at Lancaster Avenue in Paoli, makes 252 cross under a bridge and change names to Swedesford Road. After running beside the highway-like portions of US Route 202, it joins that route, soon splitting as Valley Forge Road.

[edit] Montgomery County

252 breifly enters this county as Valley Forge Road before terminating at PA 23 in the unincorporated community of Valley Forge, narrowly before the actual Valley Forge.
