- In team sports, a commemorative flag displayed or flown by a league-winning team. The last few weeks of the regular American professional baseball season, for instance, are known as the "pennant race". This is probably a holdover from the time (pre-1969) when the league championships were determined by the team with the best record at the end of the season, and to a lesser extent when there were division races but no wild cards (1969–93).
- A reference to the pennant-shaped "No Passing Zone" traffic sign found in the United States, used to indicate the start of a two-lane highway where vehicles traveling in the same direction are not permitted to pass each other. See also Prohibitory traffic sign.
- The common name for the Genus of dragonfly known as Celithemis.
- Thomas Pennant: Welsh naturalist and antiquary.
