Penn State Nittany Lions football under George Hoskins
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
George Hoskins coached the Penn State Nittany Lions football teams from 1892 to 1895. In his four seasons, he compiled a 17-4-4 record and a .760 winning percentage, the highest in school history.
His first team played its home game on the Old Main lawn on campus in State College, Pennsylvania, before the 500-seat Beaver Field opened in 1893.
Despite the article title, the school did not adopt the Nittany Lion as its mascot until 1907.
