The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company (a.k.a. Penn Mutual) was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1847. It was the seventh mutual life insurance company chartered in the United States. It is headquartered in Horsham, Pennsylvania just outside of Philadelphia.

It offers life insurance and annuities directly. Its subsidiaries offer broker/dealer services, trust and investment management services, and estate planning. With field offices in sixteen states, it has a national presence and is licensed to operate in all 50 states and the District of Columbia[1].
