Penn Foster Career School is one of the oldest and largest accredited distance education learning institutions in the world. Founded in 1890 by Thomas J. Foster and headquartered in Scranton, PA, the institution focuses on vocational and technical training in over 75 programs in the fields of business, technology, health care, and trade. Students can study online, in print, or in combination. Penn Foster also offers an accredited high school program through Penn Foster High School and associate degrees through Penn Foster College in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Accreditation
Penn Foster Career School is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools for our high school and vocational-technical programs. Penn Foster Career School is also nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), which is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency. Penn Foster Career School is licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools.

The Independent Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council is listed by the Department of Education as a "nationally recognized accrediting agency." The Accrediting Commission is also recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

In addition, Penn Foster has been reviewed and approved as an Authorized Provider of continuing education and training programs by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).
