Penn Counterparts

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Counterparts was founded in 1980 as the first coed a cappella group at the University of Pennsylvania. It began as a jazz group and its repertoire consisted primarily of standards. Today it has evolved into a jazz and pop a cappella group, though it still strives to maintain its jazz roots. It has produced twelve albums, including a new self-titled CD available on the UPenn Counterparts website. Its songs have also been featured on the Best of Collegiate a Cappella albums. R&B singer John Legend is an alumnus of the group.
