Pendula (Smooth-leafed Elm cultivar)

The Smooth-leaved Elm U. minor subsp. minor cultivar Pendula was listed by C. de Vos in Handboek 20, 1887, as U. sativa pendula, and much later by Boom in Ned. Dendr. 1: 158, 1959, as a cultivar. Described as having slender pendulous branches, and having been raised in Belgium in 1863. Young twigs prone to dieback in hard winters.
