Parasia at present a township of about 40,000 in population is situated in the valley of Pench River in chhindwara distt. which is known for its coalfields. There are several open cast and underground coal mines surrounding the vicinity.
The college was originally started to cater the children of mine workers in the year 1963-64 by then janpad panchayat in a local school building. Then after it was run by Pench valley Educational Association Parasia from 01.07.1965 - 16.10.1981 the present college building was erected by Shree Shree Laxmi Narayan trust, after which the college was renamed. Initially it was a graduate College only. Post Graduate courses in, Hindi, political Science-History, Economics-Commerce & Chemistry were started in, 1969, 1970, 1971 & 1986 respectively. The college was taken over by the govt. of M. P. On 17th Oct 1981. On 23rd July 1997 it was given the status of Post Graduate College, The present college which is known as SHREE SHREE LAXMI NARAYAN GOVT. PENCH VALLEY P. G. COLLEGE PARASIA. is quite young and Growing to become a college (Educational seat) of many other professional courses..
