Peninsula Airways, usually called PenAir, (IATA: KS, ICAO: PEN, and Callsign: PENINSULA) [1] is an airline based in Anchorage, Alaska, USA. It is a commuter airline operating extensive scheduled passenger and cargo services, as well as charter and medevac services [2]. It is Alaska's largest commuter airline, operating both passenger and cargo service, primarily in the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian Islands.[citation needed]

The airline was founded in 1955 by pilot Orin Seybert of Pilot Point.[citation needed] It started operations in 1956 concentrating on charter services, until scheduled services were started in 1973 between King Salmon and the Pribilof Islands communities. In 1985 it acquired all the assets of Air Transport Services at Kodiak. In November 1991 PenAir became a codeshare partner of Alaska Airlines and is operated by the carrier on some of its destinations.[2].
