Pelican bar

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pelican Bar was constructed in 2001 on a sand bar off the south coast of Jamaica at Parottee Point, which is between Treasure Beach and Black River. It is approximately 400 yards from the shore and is surrounded by water. It is a functioning bar which offers Red Stripe, Red Stripe Lite, Heineken, and various local craftwork. Patrons are also welcomed to catch their own fish which can be grilled on site. Built by hauling 2-3 boards at a time from the coast on local fishing boats, the bar consists of two structures, the main bar and storage shed (pictured). The main bar is larger, lower to the water, and wider. The storage shed was actually the original Pelican Bar, but became structurally insecure as a result of a hurricane.
