There are many articles about fictional elements (Try looking up just about anything from Star Trek). I think that as long as the first thing one reads is that it's fictional and where it comes from, it's fine. --Lengau 23:37, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Ancients, Alterans, or Lanteans?
(From Paragraph 3) "For millions of years the Ancients (or Alterans, as they have been referred to) spread human life and prosperity throughout Pegasus..."
I thought that they were called Alterans before they entered the Milky Way, then Ancients in the Milky way, and finally lanteans in Pegasus? Gateworld.net's Omnipedia seems to agree with me.--Lengau 23:44, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
The name of their people was originally the Alterans, and remained as such throughout their existence. However, once they abandoned the Milky Way Galaxy for Pegasus, most species only knew them by their artifacts, and as such termed them the Ancients (Much as we refer to the Roman Monarchy/Republic/Empire as Ancient Rome). When they went to the Pegasus galaxy they travelled in and were ruled from the city of Atlantis, and as such were referred to as Atlanteans (Or simply Lanteans, depending on your interpretation of dialogue). You can think of it as their species being Alteran, their nationality being Atlantean, and Ancient simply a nickname given to them by others who didn't know better. P.S. Please note that my species/nationality/nickname example isn't actually official, I just feel that they're good analogies.
