Peggy Jean was the girlfriend of Charlie Brown in the comic strip Peanuts for about two years in the early-1990s. Charlie Brown first met her at summer camp in 1990, and she appeared intermittently in the strip until the summer of 1999, a few months before the strip ended. Because of Charlie Brown's extreme nervousness upon meeting her, he mistakenly gave his name as "Brownie Charles," which she continued to use as his name.

Charlie Brown liked Peggy Jean as much as the Little Red-Haired Girl, if not more, but Peggy Jean eventually broke his heart when, in her final appearance, she revealed to him that she had another boyfriend.

Peggy Jean's only appearance in the animated specials was in a portion of It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown that adapted a storyline from December 1990.

[edit] Trivia

It is possible that the name Peggy Jean was inspired by two of Charles Schulz's close friends, Peggy Fleming and Billie-Jean King.
