Pearl City High School (Hawaiʻi) started enrollment in 1973. The school's address is: 2100 Hoʻokiʻekiʻe Street, Pearl City, HI 96782. The school is run by the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education.
One of the things that this school is known for is its band pogram. Former head band director, Michael Nakasone, was responsible for the band's success. Previously teaching at Wialua Intermediate and Mililani High School before coming to Pearl City High School. Under is leadership the marching band has participated in the Rose Bowl Parade(in 1996 they recived th honor of being unit number one), UH Football games, the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, the Ginza Parade in Japan, and Hawaii's Aloha Week Parade. While the Wind I Ensemble has appeared in the Mid-West Band Masters Convention in Chiacago, Illonois in 1991, the ABA-JBA Convention in 1994, and the MENC (Music Educators National Convention) in Phoenix, Arizona(reciecing a standing ovation, something that doesn't occur regularly). Nakasone has been with the band for over 25 years before leaving in 2004 to conduct the Royal Hawaiian Band. The current head band director is Chadwick Kamei. In 2007, the Marching Band is scheduled to appear in Bejing, China to partcipate in the Olympic World Youth Festival Parade. The parade will showcase two marching bands from previous Olympic Games hosts. The band was given the honor to represent Hawaii and the United States of America.
Most of the PCHS graduates go to usually go to LCC or UH-Manoa.
