Peaboy

Peaboy was a character on Late Night with David Letterman on NBC during the final season in 1993. He made 17 appearances on Late Night, most often running through the studio audience and past Letterman's desk, throwing frozen peas and blowing a silver whistle. He was portrayed by David Ellner, then an intern for the Letterman program while a student at Cornell University.

Peaboy wore a human-sized green pea costume, green leggings, and green Adidas sneakers.

Composer Marvin Hamlisch wrote a theme song for Peaboy ("Theme Song for Peaboy") which he performed on the Letterman program in 1993.

Ellner later appeared on Late Show with David Letterman as Hamboy, slinging handfuls of diced ham with abandon, after NBC refused to allow Letterman to bring Ellner's Peaboy character to CBS. He is currently an attorney admitted to the bar in New York and New Jersey.
