PCI multimedia audio device

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PCI multimedia audio device is commonly used to represent unknown sound cards in Windows device managers when there is no device driver installed for it. This problem is usually encountered when an operating system is first installed or re-installed. This problem is aggravating because of the difficulty involved in figuring out what driver must be installed. First, a program to identify the device has to be run; then, the correct driver has to be downloaded and installed.

Alternatively, by right-clicking on the device and selecting Properties and then Details, the PCI ID is shown, which can then be found on a list. This saves the step of having to run programs to identify the device.
