pcHDTV, Inc. is a computer hardware company that makes PCI cards to allow personal computers to receive broadcasts made with the American digital television standard, ATSC. Based in Sandy, Utah, pcHDTV has focused on the Linux market and uses open source device drivers. The company has made three TV cards so far, the HD-2000, the HD-3000, and most recently the HD-5500. All three can receive standard analog NTSC broadcasts in addition to digital transmissions, and none of the three block content based on presence of the broadcast flag.
The DVB driver (not to be confused with DVB video) development is finished, and works well. When using the DVB interface the HD-3000 and the HD-5500 support both ATSC (OTA) and QAM (cable) broadcasts. This is done by loading appropriate firmware on the fly when the card mode is switched.
The hardware can also be used to dump ATSC program streams to a file, which can then be transcoded to other video formats. This can either be done through the Linux command line interface or using an application like pcHDTVR or MythTV.
