PC User is an Australian general computer magazine, published by Australian Consolidated Press. It was first published in 1990 and is issued monthly. It is Australia's best selling computer magazine, with over 350,000 readers and 60,000 copies sold each month. Glenn Rees is the current editor of PC User and has twice now edited the magazine - first from 1992-1999 and again from 2002-present. Many of Australia's best IT journalists have written for (and continue to write for) the magazine including Rose Vines, Helen Bradley, Darren Yates, Link Harris, Julian Schoffel, David Flynn, Roulla Yiacoumi and Angus Kidman.
Each month, PC User includes reviews of new and upcoming hardware and software, including desktop PCs, notebooks, motherboards, processors, graphics cards, hard disks, optical discs and drives, etc. It also includes how-to guides, tips and tricks, and answers to reader-submitted questions in topics including Windows XP, Windows 98/ME, Linux, Microsoft Office, hardware, ripping and burning, image, audio and video editing, web authoring and networking. There is also the main "feature" which is a comprehensive review of products in a specific area. Such topics have included security software, desktops, optical and hard drives, broadband and internet, and digital photography.
The magazine also comes with a DVD disc which includes free fully-working software, trial software, game demos and video tutorials, many of which complement articles in the magazine. The disc also allows readers to access material created by PC User themselves, such as Darren Yates' Ripping and Burning Toolbox 2005. There is also an online PC User Help Station, which allows readers to submit questions and view other questions submitted.
