PC Pro
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
PC Pro is a computer magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom by Dennis Publishing. PC Pro also licenses individual articles (or even the whole magazine) for republication in various countries around the world - and some articles are translated into local languages. The magazine is, as of 2006, the biggest selling PC monthly in the UK.
PC Pro is promoted as a magazine for 'IT professionals, IT managers and power users'. It carries reviews of new hardware and software, and consumer devices such as Digital Cameras and Media Centres. It contains the Real World Computing section that provides advice from IT consultants. There is also a practical section in each issue that is dedicated to getting more out of a PC - called In Depth, to reflect the level of coverage given to each topic.
PC Pro comes with a covermount, either a CD or DVD. This contains software under several headings, Full Products, Download (actually saving you a download), Extras (demo versions of commercial software), Games, Essential Apps, Essential Desktop, Essential Graphics, Essential Internet, Essential System, Essential Business and Essential Programming. There is a mixture of Freeware, Shareware and commercially available demo software in most sections. Software in Full Products is often earlier versions of the currently available titles.
While it is primarily Windows-focused, it does contain some Open Source and Apple content.
The magazine was launched in November 1994[1].
The website, www.pcpro.co.uk[2], was launched in December 1996.
