From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paxyl is a cream salve type of product manufactured by Faulding Pharmaceuticals. Paxyl Sunburn Relief Spray is cooling and anaesthetic. Paxyl spray helps relieve the pain of minor sunburn. It's easy to apply - no painful touching, just spray on. Also suitable for windburn, chapping, insect bites (non-poisonous) and minor household burns. It has been on the market for many years. It is used for relief of minor burns, itching, sunburn and like irritations. It is available in toothpaste like tubes and also in spray packs. It is useful when applied between the buttocks to avoid chafing or from nappy rash. The Short-handed Sailing Association of Australia Inc. has in the past recommended that Paxyl should be included amongst minimum essential safety equipment for yachts competing in competitions for the treatment of burns.

In order to apply the Paxyl in spray form, hold spray upright about 10cm from affected area. Spray liberally until skin is wet. Do not spray near the eyes. For treating facial areas spray onto fingers and then apply lightly. Apply every 2-3 hours or as advised. Be warned that Paxyl should be kept away from eyes. Do not use on deep or puncture wounds or serious burns. Not for prolonged use. If condition persists or irritation develops stop use and consult a physician.

Paxyl should not be confused with Paxil, properly known as Paroxetine Hydrochloride, which is an anti-depressant drug. Paxyl is a relatively obscure product in comparison to its much better known namesake Paxil.
