Pavel Mareš (born January 18, 1976 in Zlín) is a Czech football player who plays Sparta Prague. He is a left back.
Mareš played for the Czech Republic at Euro 2004. Considered a classical, defensive left back, Mareš is used as a direct replacement for the more offensive Marek Jankulovski on the Czech national team.
Since 2003, Mareš played for Zenit St. Petersburg.
In August 2006, Mareš looked poised to join the Bolton Wanderers F.C. from Zenit St. Petersburg before the transfer deadline and passed a medical, only for the move to break down. [1] [2] In January 2007 Mareš left Zenit, moving back to Sparta Prague.[3]
