Talk:Pauwel Kwak

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An anonymous user (71.225.46.199) is constantly changing the pronunciation from kwɑk into kavack. I'm Dutch and I know for sure it's not pronounced this way.

The K is just a 'k' The W is the most difficult one, it's in between a 'v' and a 'w' like 'voice' and 'we'. In some parts of Holland/Belgium people say 'v' in other parts it's 'w' And the A is pronounced as in 'father'

According to the GenAm IPA Chart kwak should be written as kwɑk or maybe kvɑk not kavack

Yep, agree here. Whilst not Dutch, I've lived in NL for 7 years and have gotten much confirmation from dutch and belgians that it's kwɑk. The anonymous user is in an IP range from the states - I think a local dutch-speaker is far more believable wrt pronunciation. Perhaps we need an audio clip here?

Good idea, I've added an audio clip. I think it's better this way.

This is not a Dubbel for any cents.... --Madame Choucroute 03:15, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
