Some sources say Alcántara played for The Philippines but I can not find any clear evidence to back this up and includ the fact in article. If he did I am guessing it was between 1916 and 1918. Can anybody verify this ? Djln--Djln 00:22, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Inaccuracies

Not definite but possible inaccuracies... Alcántara is referred in some places as Filipino and some others as Filipino/Spanish. The article goes for the former.. Also while it is well known, of his father being Spanish, his mother's nationality being Filipino or otherwise is not clear.. Could specific sources be provided? If not verifiable, would'nt Philippine-born not be a more accurate usage? Also the type of language used, and highly questionable use of expletives are to be reviewed. like will go down as one of the greatest strikers.., considering Barcelona was competing in Catalan tournaments and the level of competition at the time. --Su30 12:34, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Alcantara was one of the first earliest greatest players of football.. He has been forgotten due to the likes of Di Stefano, Kubala, Pele, Charlton, Maradona, Muller, Cruijff, Zico, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Beckham etc. have dominated celebrity-popularity status in the last 60 years. What ever the playing situiation in those days, Alcantara took advantages of the playing style and conditions. Barcelona , la Liga and it's competitions and teams became a professional, since it's formations in the 1900's. Alcantara was just to good homes.. and to this day stills holds that amazing record for the youngest player to score and most goals for Barca and won many championships with him..He was very popular in Spain back then.. Even though some people this days don't agree with the Spanish and Mexican point of views. In my opinion, he is undoubtly, Barca's greatest player and will remained as BARCA's number 1, until someone breaks that record...Ramirez 20:00 29, September, 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Correct Infobox and Nationality

Alcántara had two different spells at FC Barcelona - 1912 to 1916 and 1918 to 1927. In between he played for Bohemians of Manila. This needs to be made clear in info box. His goal tally for the club also needs to be divided into these two periods and not just lumped together. In addition the info box template states that only league goals should be included. In this case only goals scored in Championat de Catalunya should be included. In addition, although Alcántara was born in the Philippines, he was raised in and spent most of his life in Spain and therefore should be described as Filipino Spanish. He has already been included in this category. Djln--Djln 21:26, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
