From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
However, Brunton did submit a thesis to Roosevelt University and in recognition of that thesis gained the PhD credentials. [citation needed] This thesis was later published as "Indian Philosophy and Western Culture." [citation needed]

[edit] A story about Brunton I like
Besides the question of Brunton being a Dr. or not, in Masson's book there are some stories about Brunton I like, one of them being the following: Brunton told little Jeff that the most evil kind of karma is born when one offends a spiritually highly developed person. People who committ this sort of crime will be destroyed time given. Then Brunton said, that he would withdraw his love from a person revolting against him until death comes, appearing then in a vision to that person, forgiving him and consoling him. [edit] A quotation I like
- Do not label yourself. If you say Hinduism, opponents will rise up and say Christianity. If you say Vedanta philosophy, they will oppose it with Western philosophy. Vivekananda's Vedanta was welcome and triumphant at the Chicago's World Fair of 1893. But at New York's World Fair in 1938, no exhibit or lecture by the Vedanta or Hindu Faith (or indeed any non-Christian and non-Judaic faith) was allowed. Thus the Ramakrishna Mission being labeled as a sect aroused suspicion and enmity. Therefore, form no cult, tie no label. Be forewarned and thus forearmed.

[edit] About Brunton's son Kenneth Thurston Hurst
He has written three books, as it seems to be. The last one has been a biography of his father's life. [1]Once he had been president of Prentice-Hall International. Austerlitz 88.72.6.86 12:26, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Brunton's description of his illumination, as described (quoted) by his son in the biography is to be found following this link [2]
- Recommendation of book by Kenneth Thurston Hurst, quite strange (to me):
