Paulusheim
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
St. Paulusheim is a private gymnasium in Bruchsal, Germany with free sponsorship of the school foundation of the archdiocese of Freiburg.
It has been founded by the Pallottines, originally as a boys' boarding school. Paulusheim is rooted in a boarding school of the small Italian city Masio near to Alessandria which the Pallottinians had to leave in 1915 because of the war. So they came to the former homeland of the headteacher which was Bruchsal. After a temporary accommodation in an inn they finally inaugurated the new building on the cloister hill in Bruchsal. During Second World War the school has been shut down for some time by the nazis. However, it was the first school of Northern Baden to continue teaching. As there were not enough boarding school pupils the boarding school was closed in the 80's, but the gymnasium, however has been continued and expanded. Today approx. 750 catholic and evangelic pupils attend this school. It offers a new and old language profile covering the languages Latin, English, French, Ancient Greek and Spanish (whereas the latter is only provided as a working group, as of now).
