Paulus Roiha

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paulus Roiha (born August 3, 1980 in Espoo) is a Finnish footballer who currently plays for ADO Den Haag in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Roiha is a quick striker who started his Veikkausliiga career in Finland with HJK Helsinki. He was the top scorer in Finland in 2001 with 22 goals. Roiha has since also played for FC Utrecht and FC Zwolle in the Netherlands and for Cercle Brugge in Belgium. He joined ADO Den Haag on a free transfer from Cercle Brugge during the January 2006 transfer window playing his first Erevidsie match with them on January 28 2007 [1]

Roiha played his first match for the Finnish national team on February 1, 2001 against Sweden. However, he has not been able to become a regular for Finland in qualifying matches.

Roiha has often been lambasted for being too selfish a player to play with Jari Litmanen in the national team. There have also been rumours in the Finnish yellow papers that Roiha's personal life bears too many problems for being a successful professional player.
