Paul Fortunato (1910- ) ("Fat Paulie") is a major character in the novels The Godfather Returns and The Godfather's Revenge.

Paul Fortunato was a devoted caporegime to Don Emilio Barzini and succedded him in 1955. But before this, he viewed the Corleone as weak. He supported the move to heroin and is a friend of Ozzie Altobello. He was considered the closest things the Corleones had to an enemy after the Five Families War.

He was one of the people that did not support the Corleones creating a separate regime for the drug money. He never liked Michael Corleone and hates his family. He is also one of the people who supported the Chicago Mob, good friends Vincent Forlenza and Louie Russo, the Cuba deal, and good friend Hyman Roth.

It was not made clear wheather or not he supported the assassination of president James Shea but is more likely. He is still the closest thing the Corleones have to an enemy on the Commison.
