[edit] Biography
[edit] Early life
Perrette was "born in New Orleans and raised all over" the southern United States.[1]
[edit] Career
After years of working in television and film (mostly doing commercials, voice-overs, music videos and short films), and a chance meeting while tending bar in NYC, Perrette embarked on her current role: she plays Abby Sciuto, an eccentric forensic scientist, on the TV series NCIS, a TV series based on the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. She also appeared as a waitress at Cafe Nervosa in Frasier during season 4, and later guest starred in Season One of 24.
In addition to acting, Perrette is also a published poet, writer, photographer, and spoken-word artist, a lover of music of all kinds, and a passionate advocate for civil rights. She was the lead singer in the Los Angeles based all female band Lo-Ball; a song by Lo-Ball can be heard during the movie Legally Blonde. She is also a documentary producer and is currently filming a documentary about US civil rights attorney and author Mark Lane.
[edit] Personal life
Perrette supports many charity organizations, including animal rescue, the American Red Cross, civil rights and gay rights. She was married for five years to musician Coyote Shivers.[1]
Perrette toured the actual NCIS offices in September 2005[2], accompanied by an Entertainment Tonight camera crew. During the tour, NCIS Regional Forensic Lab director Dawn Sorenson (Abby's real life counterpart), told Perrette "You make us all look good, so we're grateful".
On February 1, 2007, Perrette removed her personal online blog and website because of "someone who will not leave me alone and obsessively tracks my blog for information on me." Perrette said that she was "being threatened" and her safety was "at risk". [3]
