Paul Wendkos

Paul Wendkos (born September 20, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American TV and film director. He worked on numerous screen films and television shows from the late 1950s to the late 1990s. Amongst his first films is "The Burglar", shot in Philadelphia, PA and one of Jane Mansfield's first films.

American film critic Andrew Sarris wrote of Wendkos in his book The American Cinema: Directors and Directions 1929-1968. In the section, "Oddities, One-Shots, and Newcomers" Sarris noted that Wendkos "made frequent excursions into the Gidget genre."
