Paul Steigerwald

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul Steigerwald is a sports announcer. He became the TV play-by-play announcer for the Pittsburgh Penguins on FSN Pittsburgh for the 2006-2007 NHL season after FSN fired Mike Lange. He is also the voice of the Altoona Curve, the AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Steigerwald makes a cameo as the Penguins play-by-play announcer in the film Sudden Death. His family jokingly calls the moment in the film where he cries "Holy S---!" the proudest moment in their family's history.

Steigerwald loves the term 'Spin-o-rama' and uses it anytime a player turns more than 45 degrees while maintaining control of the puck. With Sidney Crosby leading the Penguins with his tremendous skating ability, the term is used almost every game, on average. Other famous Steigerwald phrases include "ten-bell save" and "he changes the shooting angle."
