Paul Slater

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul Slater is the current world record holder for the longest golf drive: 720 yards. This was set on a London airport runway. Some of the additional distance of the ball may be attributed to light wind blowing in the ball's direction of travel. Slater's weapon of choice for his 720-yarder was an SMT O2 driver with 2.5 degrees of loft and an ultra-stiff, 50-inch Apache shaft. The record was broken Feb. 19, 2005; the previous one of 696 yards was set not long before by PGA Tour star Stuart Appleby.
