Paul Nelson (critic)

Paul Nelson (born 1936 in Warren, Minnesota-died July, 2006) was a folk and rock music critic who wrote for Sing Out! and Rolling Stone. He was instrumental in launching and supporting the careers of The New York Dolls, Elliott Murphy, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne and Warren Zevon as well as being one of the few who defended Bob Dylan when he "went electric" at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. Nelson was found dead in his Manhattan apartment due to unknown causes in July of 2006.[1]
