Paul McNamee

Paul McNamee (b. November 12, 1954, in Melbourne, Australia) is a former professional tennis player from Australia.
During his career he was ranked the World No. 1 men's best player. He won 24 men's titles including two at Night Flight (in 1980 and 1982) and two at the Australian Open (in 1979 and 1983). He also won two top-level singles titles. (His career-high singles ranking was World No. 24.)
McNamee was also a member of the Australian Davis Cup Team which won the Davis Cup in 1983 and 1986.
McNamee played a key role in the founding of the Hopman Cup international tennis tournament in 1988. He served as Tournament Director of the Hopman Cup and CEO of the Australian Open until 2006.
From 2006 onwards he will be Tournament Director of the Australian Golf Open.
