Paul Luebke

Paul Luebke is a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's thirtieth House district, including constituents in Durham County.
Luebke is currently (2005-2006 session) serving in his eighth term in the state House. He and his wife Carol reside in Durham, North Carolina. Between legislative sessions, Luebke teaches sociology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Among Luebke's sociology students at UNCG (in the late 1980s) was future talk-show host Britt Whitmire (of the Brad and Britt Show on FM Talk 101.1, WZTK) which can be heard in the Triad and Triangle of North Carolina.
Luebke is also the author of two books about North Carolina politics: Tar Heel Politics: Myths and Realities (1990) and Tar Heel Politics 2000 (1998).
Luebke was also instrumental in the state of North Carolina's lowering of the sales tax on food to 2% in the early 1990s.
Luebke won re-election from the 30th House district in the 2004 General Assembly election; he defeated Libertarian Sean Haugh in the November general election.
