Paul Howe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sergeant First Class Paul Howe was a Delta Force operator who served in Somalia in 1993. William Fichtner's character Jeff Sanderson in the movie Black Hawk Down was modeled after him. When Captain Mike Steele had a problem with Howe and his operators' lack of discipline would endanger the Rangers in a combat situation, Howe reciprocated the same feeling that the over-done discipline would also endanger all of the soldiers in the same situation. During the Battle of Mogadishu, Howe was one of the Delta Force operators responsible for capturing Mohamed Farrah Aidid's lieutenants, as well as playing a key role in defending Cliff Wolcott's crash site. He received a Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device.
Since retiring from the Army as a Master Sergeant, he has gone on to open his own combat shooting school, Combat Shooting & Tactics, which trains private citizens in various tactical disciplines. He was made senior manager of Triple Canopy's Law Enforcement Training Division in 2005. As of January 2007, he has left Triple Canopy to pursue CSAT full-time.
His first book, Leadership and Training for the Fight, ISBN# 1420889508, is guide for military and law enforcement on effective training and leadership principles, including examples of training and its effects from his military career.
