Paul Hamer

Paul E. Hamer, Jr. (born circa 1952) is a business man and guitar player, famous for co-founding Hamer Guitars.
He grew up in Deerfield, Illinois and taught guitar at Deerfield's Village School of Folk Music. At about the same time, Paul also played electric guitar in a band called Bunion Stew. He sometimes performed with Gary Gand, who was also affiliated with the Village School of Folk Music. Paul Hamer attended Woodstock.
In the early 1970s, Paul Hamer met Jol Dantzig, with whom he would later found a guitar design and manufacturing firm -- Hamer Guitars -- in 1974, incorporating in 1976.
In 1987 Jol Dantzig and Paul Hamer parted ways; Frank Untermyer, who joined Hamer Guitars in 1978, bought out Paul's share of the company. Paul Hamer is no longer affiliated with Hamer Guitars.
