From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul Fix (b. March 13, 1901, Dobbs Ferry, New York – d. October 14, 1983, Los Angeles) was an American film and television character actor, best known for his work in westerns. Fix appeared in over a hundred movies and dozens of television shows over a 56-year career spanning from 1925 to 1981.

Fix worked in early films such as Lucky Star (1929) but he is remembered today mainly for his role as Marshal Micah Torrance on the TV Series The Rifleman, and as Dr. Mark Piper in the second pilot episode of Star Trek. He also appeared as the presiding judge in To Kill a Mockingbird in 1962.

Fix was a featured player in 27 of John Wayne's films, and Leonard Maltin and Fix both maintained that Wayne copied his famous manner of walking from Fix. Fix also co-wrote the screenplay for Wayne's film Tall in the Saddle.
